I have fought for reproductive freedom my whole life. I stuffed envelopes for Planned Parenthood with my mom as a young child. In High School I helped my mom with her PAC to elect pro-choice candidates. In college I volunteered with Princeton Pro-Choice to expose fake clinics. In law school I volunteered as a clinic escort. As a young lawyer I represented women and clinics against anti-choice extremists who sought to prevent women from accessing reproductive care through threats and violence, even enduring threats myself.
During the time when doctors were being murdered and clinics bombed, I worked with members of the Clinton Justice Department to train federal, state and local law enforcement around the country on the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. As General Counsel and Legal Director of NARAL Pro-Choice America I fought against state and federal bills seeking to take away a woman's right to choose. As Policy Director of the ACLU of Maryland, I fought against bills that would roll back Maryland women's reproductive freedoms.
Each year in Maryland anti-choice legislators and activists try to push their agenda. As your Delegate, I will continue my lifelong fight to prevent them from eroding our rights.
* Passed HB 937 (2022) to ensure access to abortion care in Maryland. The legislation: expands who can provide abortions, allocates $3.5 million to train providers in abortion care, and codifies Medicaid funding so poor women have equal access to abortion care. You can read more about the Abortion Care Access Act here and here. As a result, no matter what happens in the Supreme Court, Marylanders will be able to safely access the reproductive health care they need.
* Passed HB 705/SB 798, the Reproductive Freedom Constitutional Amendment. This bill will allow Maryland voters to decide whether the fundamental right to reproductive freedom should be enshrined in our State Constitution.
* Passed HB 812/SB 786, providing additional privacy protections for medical records relating to abortion services that are legal in Maryland. The bill protects patients' reproductive healthcare data from being used in criminal prosecution or civil litigation outside of the state.
* Passed HB 808/SB 859, protecting out-of-state patients seeking legally protected abortion care in Maryland. The bill prohibits a court from requiring a person to give testimony or produce evidence for a case involving an alleged violation of the criminal law of another state relating to abortion care.
* Passed HB 477/SB 341, requiring public higher education institutions in the state, in consultations with their students, to develop and implement a reproductive health services plan. The plan would be designed to refer students to a broad range of reproductive health services, either on-campus or off-campus, plus require the university or college to provide 24-hour access to over-the-counter contraception.

Started in 2022 after the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v.
