Congratulations to all my 2023 - 2024 legislative scholarship awardees! These 30 deserving students reside in District 16, represent 10 different Maryland schools, and are enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Our future looks bright based on this amazing group of scholars! Please see details below about applying for next year’s scholarship, and let other constituents know about this resource!

State Legislative Scholarships

Every year, each Senator and Delegate in the Maryland General Assembly receives legislative scholarship funds through the Maryland Higher Education Commission to award to their constituents. Helping students achieve their educational goals, no matter their background, is one of the most rewarding parts of being your elected official.

To qualify for my scholarship:

  • Your permanent address must be in the 16th Legislative District. (Please go to http://mdelect.net/ to confirm.)
  • You must attend or have been accepted by a Maryland college or university, graduate school, or private career (or vocational) school either full or part time.
  • You may attend or have been accepted by an out-of-state school and have been approved for a "unique major" not offered by ANY other Maryland institution as determined by MHEC by completing their unique major. (Allow 8 weeks.)
  • You must complete the  FAFSA by March 1, 2024.
  • You need to show demonstrated financial need.
  • You are required to complete and submit your application (available HERE Spring 2024) by June 1, 2024, even if you have received a scholarship from me in the past.

You may also apply for additional District 16 Legislative Scholarships by contacting:

  • Senator Ariana Kelly, Ariana.Kelly@senate.state.md.us
  • Delegate Marc Korman, Marc.Korman@house.state.md.us
  • Delegate Sarah Wolek, Sarah.Wolek@house.state.md.us

If you do not live in D16, contact your district legislators to apply for their scholarships.
